Today I’m sharing a very special post because yesterday Spellbinders released their May 2025 collection! This launch features a beautiful collaboration with designer Alex Syberia, who has her own brand and created an exclusive collection for Spellbinders called Spring in Kyoto. If you love Japanese-inspired themes, you’re going to adore this collection—I know I do!

Hoy les traigo una publicación muy especial porque ayer Spellbinders lanzó su colección del mes de mayo de 2025. En este lanzamiento destaca una colaboración preciosa con la diseñadora Alex Syberia, quien tiene su propia marca y ha creado una colección exclusiva para Spellbinders llamada Spring in Kyoto (en español, Primavera en Kioto). ¡La colección es una maravilla, especialmente si te apasiona la estética japonesa! A mí, personalmente, ¡me encanta!

As always, I want to remind you that I don’t have the full collection, since Spellbinders sends samples only to their influencer team. So the products I’m showing today are prototypes, and the ones available for purchase come with beautiful final packaging.

The three products I received from the Spring in Kyoto collection are: BetterPress Parasols, Kokeshi Dolls Cutting Dies, and Fan and Bow Cutting Dies. You can find the full list of supplies I used at the end of this post.

For this card, I created a soft background so that the dies would really stand out. Although the BetterPress Parasols set is designed for the BetterPress system, I used it with the Glimmer machine to apply foil—these BetterPress plates are compatible with Glimmer (but not the other way around, so keep that in mind!). I used Arctic cardstock from Hero Arts and paired it with Prism foil from Spellbinders, which adds a stunning, shimmery effect.
Para esta tarjeta, diseñé un fondo sutil para que los protagonistas fueran los troqueles. Aunque el set BetterPress Parasols está pensado para la máquina BetterPress, lo utilicé con la Glimmer para aplicar foil, ya que en este caso las placas de BetterPress son compatibles (¡pero no al revés, importante!). Usé la cartulina Arctic de Hero Arts junto con el foil Prism de Spellbinders, que le da un brillo precioso y elegante.
For the Kokeshi Dolls Cutting Dies and Fan and Bow sets, I used various Hero Arts cardstock colors. Below, I’ve included the color combo I chose for this card. I did end up swapping out Antique Ivory for a retired Spellbinders cardstock called Barely Peach, which matched better in the end.
Para las muñecas del set Kokeshi Dolls Cutting Dies y los abanicos del set Fan and Bow, también utilicé cartulinas de Hero Arts. Les comparto la combinación de colores que elegí para esta tarjeta. Al final, hice un pequeño cambio: sustituí la cartulina Antique Ivory por la cartulina Barely Peach de Spellbinders, que combinaba mejor con el resto de los elementos. Esta cartulina está descatalogada.
I picked the color palette using the Color Swatch Wheel die set from Spellbinders—it’s super helpful for keeping your colors coordinated.
La paleta de color la seleccioné con ayuda del set Color Swatch Wheel de Spellbinders, que siempre me resulta muy útil para combinar colores nuevos en los proyectos.

I die-cut and assembled the dolls easily, thanks to the guide marks on the dies that help you align everything correctly. The same goes for the fans, though it’s recommended to adhere the pieces from left to right. I also added some gold cardstock for extra detail and elegance.
Troquelé y monté las muñecas con mucha facilidad, ya que los troqueles incluyen marcas que indican cómo encajar cada pieza. Lo mismo ocurre con los abanicos, aunque en este caso se recomienda pegarlos de izquierda a derecha sobre la base. Para darles un toque más sofisticado, añadí detalles en cartulina dorada en ambas imágenes.

La frase de la tarjeta forma parte del Club Glimmer de este mes de mayo (2025). Usé foil dorado para que destacara sobre el fondo y combinara con los adornos dorados de las imágenes, creando una composición equilibrada y luminosa.
