Hello everyone!
Today I want to show you this wonderful Christmas acquisition although it came late - the improved hot foil system machine from Spellbinders (the Glimmer Hot Foil System). I didn't know if I should buy it but, finally, I decided to do it and the truth is that I love it even though hot foil plates are not exactly cheap, but well, I can purchase them little by little. Neither you can't use the cutting dies because they are specific to this machine, nor the foil that is also specific as they must be for hot platform systems such as those from Spellbinders or even those from We R Makers, the Quill Foil, used for the electronic cutting machines. In this post, I will show you my very first print and the following prints that I made with this machine as I created a card using the main kit that comes with this machine (see HERE).

Hoy les quiero enseñar esta maravilla de adquisición navideña aunque llegó tarde - el sistema mejorado de foil en caliente de Spellbinders (Glimmer Hot Foil System). No sabía si comprarla pero, finalmente, he decidido hacerlo y la verdad es que me ha encantado aunque las placas de hot foil no son precisamente baratos, pero bueno poco a poco se van adquiriendo. No te valen los troqueles de corte puesto que estos son específicos para esta máquina, tampoco cualquier foil ya que es específico y deben ser para sistemas de plataforma caliente como los de Spellbinders o, incluso, los de We R Makers, los de Quill Foil, utilizados para las máquinas de corte. En esta publicación, les mostraré mi primera impresión y las siguientes impresiones que realicé con esta máquina ya que creé una tarjeta simplemente utilizando el kit principal que viene determinado con esta máquina (mira AQUÍ).

Before using the machine, I did a lot of reading on how to use it, especially on Jennifer Mcguire's YouTube channel and the instructions that came with the Glimmer Hot Foil System (If you live in Europe it is advisable to buy the UK and European version, read the supplies list that is found at the end of this post).
Antes de utilizar la máquina leí bastante sobre cómo utilizarla, especialmente en el canal de YouTube de Jennifer Mcguire y las instrucciones (en inglés) que vienen con Glimer Hot Foil System (Si vives en Europa es recomendable adquirir la versión europea y de Reino Unido, mira al final de esta publicación para más información).
To make a print with this foil system, the following instructions must be followed:
Para realizar una impresión con este sistema de foil, se debe seguir las siguientes instrucciones:
1.- Plug in the machine and turn the power button on. The power button shows a red light. When the machine heats up, a green indicator will light up.
1.- Enchufar la máquina y encender el botón de encendido. El botón de encendido muestra una luz de color roja. Cuando la máquina se caliente, se encenderá un indicador verde.
2.- Add the hot foil plate (specific for this machine) with the design UPWARDS. Then, press the 'timer' button and a green light will start flashing. In the meantime, we put the foil down, i.e. the shiny side towards the platform and the plate, and then the cardstock. Wait a few minutes, then add the two clear bases.
2.- Añadimos la placa para hot foil (específicos para esta máquina) con el diseño HACIA ARRIBA. Entonces presionamos el botón de "tiempo" ("timer) y una luz verde comenzará a parpadear. Mientrastanto, ponemos el foil hacia abajo, es decir, la parte brillante hacia la plataforma y la placa, y luego la cartulina. Esperamos unos minutos, y añadimos las dos bases.
3.- When the machine is ready, which is when the green flashing light stays on, then we can remove the foil from its base, and pass it through a manual die-cutting machine to apply pressure (I have used the Big Shot and it works nicely) slowly and without haste. We only do it ONCE (if you see that it doesn't look right, then the next time you do it twice).
3.- Cuando esté preparada la maquina que es cuando la luz verde intermitente se quede encendida, entonces, ya podemos quitar la plaltaforma de su base, y pasarla por una troqueladora manual para dar presión (yo he utilizado la Big Shot y queda muy bien) despacito y sin prisas. Solo lo pasamos UNA VEZ (si ves que no te queda bien, entonces a la siguiente le pasas dos veces).
4.- Return the platform to its base and reveal the design carefully, removing the plates and the foil (with tweezers because it burns).
4.- Retornamos la plataforma a su base y revelamos el diseño con cuidado, quitando las placas y el foil (con unas pinzas porque quema).

The truth is that this machine gives a lot of play to create more beautiful and impressive designs in card making, although it is true that it is a little expensive, but as I said before, the plates for this machine can be purchased little by little and always observing if the design that we are going to acquire is going to be used more than once.
La verdad es que esta máquina da mucho juego para crear diseños más bonitos e impresionantes en tarjetería, aunque si es verdad que es dinero, pero como ya he dicho antes, las placas para esta máquina se pueden ir comprando poco a poco y siempre observando si el diseño que vamos a adquirir lo vamos a utilizar más de una vez.
