Acetate Backgrounds with Sentiments | Fondos de Acetato con Frases

Hello crafters!

Christmas is just around the corner, and I’d like to share with you some lovely Christmas cards, perfect for bidding farewell to this festive season. Plus, there are exciting things coming soon that I can’t wait to reveal—so stay tuned! These cards have been created using the Amaryllis Christmas Collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders. If you’ve been following my recent posts, you’re probably already familiar with this collection, which I’m absolutely in love with. Its versatility allows for countless creative possibilities, and this time, I’ve tried out a new technique to make the most of the sentiments designed for the Glimmer machine.

La Navidad está a la vuelta de la esquina, y quiero compartir con ustedes varias tarjetas navideñas perfectas para despedir esta temporada festiva. Además, se vienen nuevas sorpresas que pronto podré revelar, ¡así que estén atentos! Estas tarjetas han sido creadas con la colección de Yana Smakula para Spellbinders, llamada The Amaryllis Christmas Collection. Si han seguido mis publicaciones recientes, seguro ya conocen esta colección, que me tiene completamente enamorada. The backgrounds of these cards are made on acetate, using different sets of sentiments for the Glimmer machine. However, it’s important to handle acetate carefully, as it’s a delicate material. Here’s a key tip: don’t wait for the machine’s green light to stop flashing completely. Once the machine is ready, place the acetate and plates on the platform, press the “timer” button, and then count 10 light flashes. After that, remove the platform from the Glimmer base and pass it through the die-cutting machine. If you wait too long, the acetate might melt slightly, resulting in a distorted foil impression.

Los fondos de estas tarjetas están hechos sobre acetato, utilizando diferentes sets de frases para la máquina Glimmer y de la BetterPress que pueden ser utilizadas para la Glimmer. Sin embargo, es importante tener precaución al trabajar con acetato, ya que es un material delicado. Aquí un consejo clave: no esperen a que la luz verde de la máquina deje de parpadear por completo. Una vez que la máquina esté lista, coloquen el acetato junto con las placas en la plataforma y presionen el botón "timer". Después de contar 10 parpadeos de luz, retiren la plataforma de la base Glimmer y pásenla por la troqueladora. Si esperan demasiado tiempo, el acetato podría derretirse, dejando una impresión de foil distorsionada.

Once the backgrounds were ready, I turned them into cards using the Amaryllis flower shape as a base. The technique involves die-cutting cardstock with Yana's Amaryllis Etched Dies set and creating a card in the shape of a flower. This way, the acetate with the sentiments surrounds the flower, and when you open the card, the design takes centre stage while the message can be written inside. This structure highlights the acetate background in an elegant and creative way.

Para convertir estos fondos en tarjetas y captar esas frases del acetato, optamos por crear una base con forma de la flor Amaryllis de manera que alrededor de esa flor queda el acetato. Para ello, troquelamos en cartulina el troquel Yana's Amaryllis Etched Dies y creamos una base con su forma de manera que cuando abres la tarjeta, debes abrir la flor para poder escribir el mensaje dentro. Esta forma permite destacar ese fondo de acetato.
