Hello, crafty friends!

We’re back with the Spellbinders Clubs for July 2025, and today we’re focusing on backgrounds you can create for your handmade cards. This time, I’m highlighting the Stencil Club, which is just perfect for the “Christmas in July” campaign — because yes, we’re already getting into gear for the upcoming fall and winter seasons! I was pleasantly surprised by this month’s stencil set — it offers lots of versatility and lets you experiment with different techniques to create unique backgrounds. As I always recommend: if you’re interested, try subscribing to at least two clubs so you have more variety and possibilities when crafting your cards (check out the clubs HERE).

Seguimos con los clubes de Spellbinders del mes de julio 2025, y hoy nos enfocamos en los fondos que podemos crear para nuestras tarjetas. En esta ocasión, quiero destacar el Club de Esténciles o Máscaras, ideal para la campaña de “Navidad en Julio”, ¡porque ya vamos calentando motores para lo que se viene en otoño-invierno! Este club me ha sorprendido gratamente, ya que permite crear fondos muy variados usando distintas técnicas. Como siempre les recomiendo: si están interesados, suscríbanse al menos a dos clubes para tener más posibilidades de diseño y variedad al crear sus tarjetas (pueden ver los clubes AQUÍ).

To create these backgrounds, I used CORE inks by Hero Arts, applied with a blending brush that gives excellent coverage. This month’s stencil kit includes two types: 1) A standalone stencil with a heart pattern; 2) A set of four numbered stencils, meant to be used in sequence to build a winter/holiday-themed background.

Para realizar los fondos utilicé las tintas CORE de Hero Arts, aplicadas con una brocha tipo maquillaje, que cubre muy bien el papel. El kit de esténciles de este mes incluye dos tipos: 1) Uno independiente con diseño de corazones; 2) Cuatro esténciles numerados que se usan en secuencia para crear un fondo con estampado invernal/navideño.

First Background | Primer fondo:

I used all four stencils on light blue cardstock, applying a different color for each layer: Reds: Pale Tomato, Cranberry; Blues: Periwinkle, Nautical; Yellow: Lemon Yellow; Orange-Yellow: Spicy Mustard.

Usé todos los esténciles sobre cartulina azul pálido, aplicando diferentes colores en cada capa: Rojo: Pale Tomato, Cranberry; Azul: Periwinkle, Nautical; Amarillo: Lemon Yellow; Naranja-amarillo: Spicy Mustard.

To add extra texture, I layered the heart stencil (the standalone one) over the finished background and inked it with white pigment ink. I absolutely loved how it turned out — what do you think?

Para darle un toque extra, utilicé el esténcil de corazones (el independiente) y lo entinté con tinta de pigmento blanca para añadir textura. ¡Me encantó el resultado! ¿Y a ti?


Second Background | Segundo fondo:

For this one, I chose white cardstock and warm tones: reds and pinks (Pale Tomato, Cranberry, Cherry, Pink Grapefruit). I used a different color for each stencil to create a soft, harmonious look.

Opté por cartulina blanca y usé tonos cálidos: rojizos y rosados (Pale Tomato, Cranberry, Cherry, Pink Grapefruit). Cada esténcil fue entintado con un color diferente para lograr un efecto armónico y suave.


Third Background | Tercer fondo:

I used red cardstock, blending in deep red tones (Cherry, Cranberry) and finishing with white pigment ink to create an elegant and festive contrast.

Utilicé cartulina roja, entintada con tonos rojizos (Cherry, Cranberry) y rematada con pigmento blanco, creando un contraste elegante y festivo.


To assemble the cards, I used die-cut images from the Small Die of the Month Club and added a few extra elements from the “Deluxe Caboodle” — the full-value subscription bundle that comes with an exclusive coordinating die this month.

Para montar las tarjetas, utilicé imágenes del Club de Troquel Pequeño y el pequeño obsequio que viene con el pack completo de todos los clubes, llamado “The Deluxe Caboodle”, que este mes incluye un troquel perfecto para combinar con el resto.

For the sentiments, I used the foil phrases from the Glimmer Club with Platinum foil, and also included some sentiments from the BetterPress Club. Just a reminder: BetterPress plates can be used with the Glimmer system, but not the other way around.

Los sentimientos (frases) los tomé del Club de Glimmer usando foil Platinum, y también usé frases del Club de BetterPress. Recuerden: las placas de BetterPress se pueden usar con la Glimmer, ¡pero no al revés!



As finishing touches, I added small embellishments like snowflakes, peppermint candies in different colors, and silver pearls. I also added a bit of sparkle with a shimmer pen, and some dimension with clear dimensional glue.

Para los toques finales, añadí decoraciones pequeñas como copos de nieve, caramelos de menta de colores y bolitas plateadas. También apliqué un poco de brillo con un rotulador especial y un toque de relieve usando pegamento transparente.
